A yellow fever certificate is required from all travellers over six months of age coming from infected areas.

Polio and typhoid are not endemic in Bonaire; however, precautions are advised as a few areas of risk exist within the general region of the Caribbean.

Food & drink
All mains water on the islands is distilled from seawater and is thus safe to drink. Bottled mineral water is widely available. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.

Other risks
Hepatitis A is present. Outbreaks of dengue fever occur in the area.

The San Francisco Hospital is equipped to deal with emergencies and has a decompression chamber and an ambulance aircraft.
