The majority of hotels are in the Palm Beach and Eagle Beach resort area on the southwest coast, offering accommodation of a very high standard. Many of these luxury hotels have beach frontage and their own swimming pools, plus extensive sport, entertainment and shopping facilities. Rates are much lower in the summer, which is the island’s low season. Some tour operators offer out-of-season accommodation packages. Rooms are subject to a 5 per cent government room tax and hotels also add a 16.6 per cent service charge. The Aruba Tourism Authority provides a 24-hour customer service hotline (tel: (58) 39000) which is available to visitors wishing to make complaints or favourable comments about hotels and other establishments.
There is limited scope for this kind of accommodation. Many guest houses are in the Noord area not far from the main hotel area. Contact the Tourism Authority for details.
There are apartment complexes and a list is available through the Aruba Tourism Authority offices.
