Tourist: £25 (single-entry only). Business: £40 (single-entry); £55 (multiple-entry for up to three months); £80 (multiple-entry for up to six months). Transit: £10. An additional fee of £5 is payable for Express Service visas.

Passport valid for a minimum of three months beyond intended departure date required by all.

Required by all except the following:
(a) nationals of Kenya and Uganda;
(b) transit passengers continuing their journey to a third country within six hours, provided holding valid onward or return documentation and not leaving the airport transit lounge.

Note: Since 1 June 2006, all foreign nationals (including resident diplomats) are required to have a travel permit to visit other areas outside Asmara. Visitors intending to travel outside Asmara should be aware that the new restrictions might severely hamper their plans.

Single-entry business visas: up to one month. Extensions are possible. Apply to the Foreign Ministry in Asmara. Apply on arrival in Eritrea. Transit visas: 24 hours.

(e) Yellow fever certificate, if arriving within six days of visiting an infected area (except for passengers in transit and not leaving the airport). (f) Stamped, self-addressed registered envelope for postal applications. Tourist: (a)-(f) and, (g) A valid onward ticket and travel documents. (h) Proof of traveller's cheques of minimum US$40 per day, or bank statement. Business: (a)-(f) and, (g) Company letter stating the purpose of the visit.
